A word from our alumni

'I was a member of the first LEDLET Summer Scheme cohort in 2014. Since then I have gone on to achieve a law degree from a top UK university and secure a Training Contract at one of the world’s largest commercial law firms. The experiences afforded to me through the Summer Scheme have been invaluable and I will feel forever indebted for the ‘foot in the door’ that LEDLET offered me. I would encourage anyone who is serious about pursuing a career in law to apply.’ - James Tobin, 2014 cohort; Port Talbot

Having attended the summer scheme in 2015, I had an eye opening insight into what a career in law could entail. I was surrounded by like-minded students who all came from similar backgrounds. After my week with LEDLET the trustees continued to support me and give me advice. I have since graduated with a law degree from Oxford University, and I have obtained a training contract with a top commercial law firm in London - and I am now a trustee for LEDLET!' - Katie Rivers, 2015 cohort; Cynon Valley

I had an amazing week at the inaugural LEDLET Summer Scheme in 2014. It gave me invaluable insights into the legal profession that I would not have experienced otherwise. The social aspect of the week was unexpected but great fun too. Everyone I met on the Summer Scheme was so supportive and generous with their time and knowledge that it gave me the confidence to apply for law at university and then pursue a career as a barrister. Six years on, it is lovely to continue to see both familiar and new faces at LEDLET events as the network continues to grow. - Talia Keskin, 2014 cohort

The experiences of the LEDLET Scheme have proven invaluable to the progress I have made in legal life to date. The sheer variety of areas covered on the scheme gave me plenty to write about in my personal statement for university. The Scheme remains on my CV and I have been asked about it during successful Vacation Scheme interviews. It really does help you stand out whilst giving you plenty to talk about. I am sure it helped me in my successful application to Oxford University and in receiving offers for Training Contracts. Not to mention, it is great fun. - Dylan Jones, 2015 cohort
